Matthew Miles – Meet the Team

What does your role at Silk Family Law involve?

I specialise in high net-worth divorce and financial remedy cases and I divide the majority of my time between our Leeds and North Yorkshire offices but represent clients across the country and overseas. Day to day my role involves meeting and advising clients, preparing for and attending Court hearings, drafting legal correspondence and preparing documents such as pre-nuptial agreements.

What did you do before you joined the team?

I worked as an Associate Solicitor at a well-known firm in Harrogate and Leeds before joining Silk in December 2020.

What is your favourite part of the job?

I’m passionate about people and enjoy getting to know my clients. I strive to achieve the best possible outcome for them as painlessly as possible and find this a hugely rewarding part of the job.

What do you most like about working at Silk Family Law?

The collaborative nature of the team – we work together to provide a gold-star service for our clients. We feel that two heads are always better than one and fully support our colleagues.

What else would you like to be doing if you weren’t doing this role?

I love music, having once been a member of an indie band in his teenage years. I hope to create a record one day so would have a career in music if I wasn’t in my current role.

What is your perfect day away from the office?

Going to a Manchester United game or seeing one of my favourite bands in concert – outside of work I am a big sports and music fan. Nothing beats a walk in the Yorkshire countryside followed by a well-deserved pint!

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Travel the world – top of my list is to visit South America, Japan and the Caribbean. I would also love to go on a safari.

Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?

Arnold Schwarzenegger because he has had a fascinating life having reinvented himself as an athlete, actor and politician. An inspiring resume for a boy from a small town in Austria.
