Elliot Anderson

Job title?

Legal Assistant

What does your role at Silk Family Law involve?

In my role, my primary function is to assist the other Solicitors in the team with work as and when they require it. This can consist of writing letters to clients, and drafting case documents alongside scheduling other crucial case administration such as booking counsel for court hearings. At present I operate primarily as Katie Machin’s Legal Assistant, assisting with any tasks Katie requires, and working alongside her to ensure the best possible result for the client.

What did you do before you joined the team?

I worked as a Court Clerk for around two years; first at the County Court at North Shields and then at the County Court at Newcastle. In doing so I experienced a wide range of Family and Civil proceedings the experience gained there has helped me tremendously in this role. Before that, I studied the GDL as well as an LPC MSc in Law, Business and Management qualification course at the University of Law.

What is your favourite part of the job?

The fact that no two days working days are ever the same. The consistent variety of work makes every day as a Legal Assistant a new learning experience.

What do you most like about working at Silk Family Law?

The supportive atmosphere. Silk is a very encouraging place to work with everyone helping and assisting each other where they can. It is a place of work where everyone wants the best result for each other and the clients.

What else would you like to be doing if you weren’t doing this role?

I’d have to say that I’d hope I’d be working in the Film industry. As someone who is a big film fan, I’d like to have been a director or a screenwriter.

What is your perfect day away from the office?

I would say meeting up with friends for food at a nice restaurant. Once we’ve finished there I’d like to head out to the cinema or a gig.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

I’d like to travel for a long while seeing as much of the world as I possibly can. Once that’s done, I’d probably come back to the UK to take a lot of courses on topics that interest me. Maybe even go to film school!

Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?

Freddie Mercury with the rest of Queen. Because in all honesty who wouldn’t want to do so?
