What does your role involve at Silk Family Law?

Jenny McKinney “I love my job, especially working with Kim and our clients. I do everything from preparing drafts to financial statements and more. I also get the opportunity to do tasks usually outside of my role to help me train and develop.”

What did you do before you joined the team?

I have had a varied career but started working in law when I obtained employment with HM Court’s & Tribunals Service, to branch out and joining a law firm as a legal assistant. I specifically joined Silk Family Law because I wanted to develop my career, and I have nothing but encouragement to do that here.

What is your favorite part of the job?

Definitely the variety of work and also working with Kim. She is a brilliant and fun person to work with and someone I consider to be a good friend.

If you weren’t doing this role, what else would you like to do?

There isn’t really, I love my job and am now training to be a lawyer myself based on my own personal experience of having to go to court and pursue and child arrangements order for my grand-daughter. I have seen first-hand just what families have to go through and want to develop my career to support people going through the same process.

What is your perfect day away from the office?

Prior to being a mum and looking after my grand-daughter Ezmae, I would have said a sunny afternoon in a beer garden! Now it has become walks on the beach and trips to my parent’s caravan with Ezmae. She just loves it there, and it is magic seeing her face and how happy it makes her.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Without hesitation I would buy a villa in Cyprus and move abroad. I absolutely love the place! I grew up moving round with my dad as he was in the army, and out of all the countries we lived in from Germany to Wales, that was my favourite. I have very fond memories of the two years we spent there and subsequent holiday with my sister and would love to move back. Maybe one day!

Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?

Channing Tatum – no explanation needed! He is gorgeous and I think he would be great to spend some time with!
