Silk Family Law retains its position as one of the North’s leading family law firms with top tier rankings in legal guides Chambers UK and Legal 500 for the eighth successive year.
Chambers UK 2019 describes Silk Family Law as a “pre-eminent team at the forefront of the market in family law”. The guide notes that clients and other sources comment: “the lawyers’ approachable manner, realistic advice and commitment to the client is what I think sets them apart from the rest” and “they do exceptional work and it is a pleasure to work with them.”
The latest edition of Legal 500 says: “The ‘extremely good and close-knit team’ is praised as being ‘informative, sympathetic and highly knowledgeable’, which makes it well equipped to guide business owners, landowners, farmers, sports personalities, celebrities and politicians through a wide range of family law matters.”
Silk Family Law has featured as top tier firm in both Chambers UK and Legal 500 since the boutique practice was founded in 2010. All four of the firm’s partners are singled out by both guides, which highlights Silk’s strong breadth of expertise particularly with high-value and complex finance cases, those involving inheritance, landed estates, businesses and trusts, as well as cross-border and children law issues.
Barrister Ian Kennerley and solicitor Margaret Simpson are named as ‘leading individuals’ by Legal 500, which says that Margaret ‘understands the wider picture in which family law issues occur’. Both legal publications comment that she ‘gets straight to the point’. Chambers UK singles out Margaret’s expertise with family-owned businesses, farming assets and shareholding issues, and Ian is ‘particularly recognised for his excellent matrimonial law expertise’.
