Having been admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) in February this year, Silk Family Law chartered legal executive Emily Bell attended and celebrated her Fellowship at the CILEX Graduation and Admission Ceremony on Saturday 6th November 2021 at Westminster Hall in London.

The ceremony commenced with an inspiring speech by CILEX President Caroline Jepson, and Millicent Grant QC (Hons) delivered the keynote. The event was attended by around 300 graduates and fellows along with their family and friends.

CILEX offers a practical route to becoming a lawyer. An alternative to studying at university, this route allows legal professionals to study alongside working full time.

As a chartered legal executive, Emily can now represent Silk clients and manage her own cases. Emily has chosen to continue her studies and is working towards becoming a solicitor.

Teresa Davidson, Silk Family Law partner and head of the Silk Family Law Leeds office said:

“Emily has been a valued member of the Silk Family Law team for ten years, during which time she has studied alongside working full time. She completed her CILEX post-graduate three years qualifying employment at the firm.

“Clients praise her calm, pragmatic approach and describe her as a “safe pair of hands” and her chartered legal executive status now means she can work more closely with clients managing their cases.

“We are delighted that Emily has chosen to continue her studies and will support her fully in becoming a qualified solicitor.”

CILEX President Caroline Jepson explains:

“The CILEX route into law generates a determination and passion that serves clients and the overall profession well. The drive to succeed is common amongst our members and together, we can make a powerful contribution to the quality and effectiveness of the legal system.”

Founded in 1892, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) is the professional association and governing body for Chartered Legal Executive lawyers, other legal practitioners and paralegals.
