Silk Family Law retains its position as one of the North’s top family law firms with a top tier ranking in Legal 500 for the seventh year running.

The latest edition of the legal bible says that “for some” the Newcastle and North Yorkshire-based boutique practice is ‘the pre-eminent firm in the North East; an undoubted leader

Legal 500 says: “The ‘dedicated’ group has ‘genuinely brilliant expertise wedded to a caring and thoughtful approach that makes it truly peerless’.”

The guide says that “the firm is ‘packed full of legal experts’, including the ‘amazing’ Kim Fellowes, who has ‘a reputation for fighting her corner with dogged determination; she has a brilliant mind and undoubted prowess in children issues, financial matters and pre-nuptial agreements’. Also recommended are qualified barrister Ian Kennerley and ‘first-rate family lawyer’ Margaret Simpson, who ‘never misses a trick’ and ‘is charming with clients and opponents alike’; she is recommended for divorces, particularly those involving land ownership and farming issues. The ‘outstanding, pragmatic and highly skilled’ Wayne Lynn focuses on cohabitation agreements and pre-and-post-nuptial agreements. Associate Harriet Reid is another key name to note.”

Ian Kennerley and Margaret Simpson are named as “leading individuals”.

Margaret Simpson, one of Silk’s founding partners, commented: “We are delighted to be ranked as a top tier firm for the seventh successive year.  The Legal 500 accolade is important because it is based on independent research, recognising both our legal expertise and our exceptional client service.  Our clients are our priority at all times, and we would like to thank all those clients and intermediaries who provided such positive feedback about us to this guide.”

Founded seven years ago by Ian Kennerley and solicitors Kim Fellowes and Margaret Simpson, Silk has offices in Newcastle and North Yorkshire, as well as consulting rooms in York, Leeds and London.
