British-born singer songwriter Kirsty Bertarelli has been awarded a reported £350 million divorce settlement, following her divorce from Italian-born Swiss businessman Ernesto Bertarelli.
The former Miss UK whose music career co-writing the All Saints Number 1 single Black Coffee, is understood to have signed a prenuptial agreement in Switzerland ahead of her marriage to Bertarelli in 2000. The couple were married for 21 years and have three children together.
A spokesman for the former couple told the Daily Mail paper that the Bertarellis’ “decision was a shared one and the separation amicable” and that “all issues arising from the divorce have been settled.”
The former husband and wife were listed together at 14th place in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, with a combined estimated fortune of £9.2 billion.
Pre-nuptial agreements allow couples to determine in advance how assets will be shared in the event of separation or divorce and to ensure children are provided for. They allow separating couples to move on more quickly, and – in the case of couples who attract media interest – can provide privacy and protect against long, drawn out divorce proceedings.
